The Gantry Framework received a Joomla! Open Source Creative and Artistic Recognition (JOSCAR) award for "Best Framework System" at J and Beyond 2016. JOSCAR award recipients were voted for by attendees of the J and Beyond conference that took place in Barcelona, Spain this past week.
Gantry has a rich history with the Joomla platform. It started as a solution for the RocketTheme team that enabled them to quickly create Joomla templates including powerful features without having to reinvent the wheel with each new design. For over half a decade, Gantry has remained one of the most popular frameworks for Joomla templates.
Over the years, it has grown to include support for WordPress and evolved to provide integrated support for modern templating techniques like responsive design.
Perhaps the biggest step in Gantry's evolution to date was the release of Gantry 5, a ground-up rewrite of the framework that introduced a number of modern concepts to the platform. Drag-and-drop configuration, a robust solution for visual layout manipulation, a comprehensive menu editor, and many more powerful new features helped make Gantry 5 a go-to solution for developers of all levels of experience.
Gantry 5 is about to have its first birthday after 5.0 officially released in June of 2015. During the past year, it has been downloaded over half a million times and has become the framework of choice for several top Joomla template makers.
The most important key to Gantry 5's success is its users. The developers, designers, and even the first-time website creators that have downloaded Gantry 5 and seen first-hand how it can make creating a beautiful, modern website easier than ever. They have supported the project by purchasing templates and themes on RocketTheme.com, submitted feedback on GitHub, chatted with members of the Gantry community on Gitter, and simply helped to spread the word about Gantry to their colleagues, friends, and family.
From the Gantry team to you: Thank you.
